Freestyle Friends

We drove out the the kennel club this morning to practice canine freestyle and rally obedience. I really enjoy these activities (although not as much as tracking) because it keeps my mind occupied, I get lots of treats and I get to visit with my friends.

This is my new friend Stormy. She is a Belgian Tervuren and already has her Utility Dog title (UD) which is very hard and takes a lot of work to earn. She and her person are learning freestyle and I bet they will be great. Look at the beautiful attention she is giving to her person. Attention is key to doing well in obedience, rally and freestyle.

Lucky is very good at walking backwards. Here you see him backing away from his person. They are getting ready to compete at a trial in November.

Pree is one of my boyfriends. This isn't the best picture of him-it makes him look like a little mop and he is actually quite handsome. He finds me irresistable and today he ran through the ring gates to get to me. No photos of that since they would be R-rated at least.

Here I am doing my favorite trick-the leap to touch Barbara's hand. I love to do it because I am allowed to jump. See how high I can get.

Here is another picture of me doing it again. It feels so great to leap up.

After freestyle we ran a rally course and then it was back home to take a long nap while Barbara had to work.

Hi
You look like a professional leaper. My mom just gets me to walk around for treats. I'm gonna try that big jump. You have some cute and talented friends.

Wow you can jump so high! I can jump pretty high for a chihuahua but not nearly as half as high as you! I would have liked to keep one of those kittens but my mom says we take care of all we can right now. Those kittens need a home of their own. We're hoping they get good homes soon.

That looks so great, Niamh, especially the photos of you leaping up. I wish I could come to training with you, since #s keeps mumbling about how I could use a little further education...

Heya Niamh!!! Damn, you can leap really high! Almost as high as Pacco! She is a professional leaper too! I bet you had a fun time at both your classes.

I have exactly the same move! Its fun, huh? I like to practice my freestyle in the yard with momma so that I am not distracted by other doggies.

That's a sweet leap Niamh! And I know leaps... that's one of the best I've seen. Plus you're so shiny, so it makes it extra special to see.

Thank you mom for all of the great advice. I've been doing super well with my hula trick now that mom isn't holding treats in her hand. I've already begun to put the 2 parts of the trick together, along with 3 spins inside the hoop. It's fun!

Earning treats is the best thing ever! Good luck with your treat earning and feasting!

We've checked that training website already. Thank you.

Stan is quite good at his recall - as long as he's not in one of his OCD patterns. That's put a major kink in his training. He's smart and learns quicky, but we've got to get through the demons to make any headway. Poor kid. But I will NEVER have Friday's event happen again, so we will be full-force on the monster's recall skills.

On a lighter note, we're posting an update video of the hula hoop trick tomorrow. Pupi is very good! I hope you enjoy it! All of your amazing advice made it possible. We can't thank you enough for all that you've done for us. It really means the world.

Oh wow Niamh, you look good. You are quite tall like Holly when you jump up like that.

Your friends look good too.

Btw - we love the photo Barbara used of Zac. Thank you, we are honoured that you used his picture. :-)

You are a great jumper! I jump all the time but never get any treats. I usually get yelled at :-(

It looks really hard to pay that much attention though. Napping is easier, so that's what I do.
