Bad Ambrose

Ambrose is almost 7 months old now and he is huge! Almost as big as me. His paws are enormous and he still has a lot of loose skin so he is not nearly finished growing.

The first picture is us today. The second picture was taken in March when he was only 2 1/2 months old.

You can see the difference.

He has grown in spurts. Sometimes his front legs grow and sometimes his back legs grow. One day Barbara was horrified to see that his hips were higher than his shoulders! I think that we should lock him in a closet so that no one can see him and think that is what Gordon Setters are supposed to look like.

He is also growing goofier by the day. Look at that face!. This week he forgot what sit means. Barbara gave him the cue and he just stood there and stared at her like he never heard the word before. She has only been practicing that with him since he was 8 weeks old!

Completely clueless.

Barbara says that he is the most destructive puppy that she has ever had. Even though we have lots of appropriate chew toys, stuffed kongs and other treat dispensing toys, he still likes to chew up things that shouldn't even be in his mouth in the first place. If Barbara leaves the closet door open for a second or leaves something out on the table, it is in his mouth in a flash. I have done a few bad things in my day but nothing like this and I was never destructive.

THE GALLERY OF DESTRUCTION

Ambose's registered name is Albannach Almost Famous. His breeders sent Barbara a baseball cap with their kennel name embroidered on it. She had it in the dog-crate-on-wheels on the console between the front seats. Ambrose's crate is right up next to the console. While she was driving he pulled the hat into his crate, chewed it and got his puppy slime all over it.

He stole her sandal from the closet and chewed off the end before she got it back.

I took my head off my dragon for just a few minutes and this is what he did to it.

He stole the camera off the table. Fortunately he only messed up the case and not the camera.

He is also a counter surfer. We used to have four of these Canine Freestyle Federation mugs. Now we have one. Barbara gets really upset when Ambrose knocks over anything glass or ceramic. Many HBO words are said while Ambrose gets shoved in his crate and I get told to "leave it" so she can clean up the mess. I think she is worried that we might eat the glass or cut our pads on it.

I really don't know how I am going to survive his adolescence. It was so nice to go to the competition in TN and leave him at the kennel. I had Barbara all to myself and didn't have to put up with his goofiness. But Barbara missed him. Why, I do not know. She is always kissing him and playing with him and trying to train him (a lost cause, I am afraid). So I am stuck with him.

Sigh. Teenagers.

He is totally goofy looking. I bet he moves all clunky too. Not graceful like yourself.

WOW - you're right - Ambrose sure has grown!!!!

I was like you, Niamh - I was not a destructive puppy at all - my humans kept waiting in dread for me "teething phase" but it came and went withouth them even knowing it! So they're really worried that the next puppy they get after me might be totally different and they will have been so spoilt with me, they won't know how to cope!

I grew like Ambrose too! I think that's a thing with us big doggies - I also went through a stage when my back end was higher than my front end...I sure looked funny! :-) But I'm sure he will turn out a gorgeous boy in the end.

You are so good to be so patient with everything, Niamh!

My mom says that not so little Ambrose reminds her of my Irish Setter buddy, Corey. When he was younger he stayed in that gangly goofy stage for a long time. You know, when his sister, Abbey, was getting used to having a growing male Setter around the house her whole face turned prematurely white! She was only 8 months older than Corey and already looked old and wise by the time she was 2. Perhaps all the stress got to her. Hope that doesn't happen to you, Niamh!

Some very interesting objects of destruction there Ambrose!

We're so glad your parcel finally arrived....FINALLY! Wow, it took so long....(I promise to never EVER use snail mail to the States again!)
Hope you like the goodies.....we put a puppy chew in for Ambrose but going by today's pictures he's probably way too big for it now!
Anyway, enjoy....and have a peaceful weekend :D

Wow, Ambrose is getting so big, and although he is growing he is still quite the young pup. That destruction is some of the best I've seen in a long time. Hope he grows out of the chewing and counter surfing soon.

Oh don't worry he will get over it, maybe when he is 2.. Callie still steals dad's flippies every chance she gets. Mom is always throwing them in the laundry room and closing the door. She has unstuffed the couch too. So just hang in there. He will grow up before you know it..

Ohhhh, Ambrose has grown into a gangly teenager.

We knows its not easy dealing with sometimes unruly energetic pup but its all a phase. They will calm down eventually ...

Do we perhaps notice a somewhat gleeful tone to the account of Ambrose's puppy failings, Niamh?

He is indeed enormous, and we have heard that as they grow, pups sometimes totally forget everything they have learned. We wish you much strength and fortitude, dear friend!

He sure is growing fast. Ambrose reminds me of Bad Arrow. He has chewed a lot of shoes and other stuff. Now my mom hides them and can never find them. He still chews but he's more discriminating now.

You know what Niamh it must be a brother thing. Zac has destroyed all of my favourite toys. He does like to tear things up, i was never as bad as that.

You made our mum chuckle though about the Ambrose not knowing how to sit or rather forgetting it. She has had that look from Zac before as well on things. Like he doesn't know what she means... hehe

I think it is a boy thing.. BOL

It does get better though! :-)

Dear Ambrose,
You and I are very much alike. Once I completely consumed dad's leather boot leaving just the grommets, laces and rubber sole. I've broken glasses and mugs, chipping mom's front tooth and unpacked boxes while my folks were getting ready to move. IT'S FUN!

I recommend you take Naughty Boy materials and bury them in your crate when your mom isn't looking. Then you get to enjoy them under the guise of being a Good Crate Boy! (Don't tell my mom I told you that...)

My mom has one of her many behavior questions for your mom. This one's kind of silly.

When I'm feeling playful, and after greeting a dog, I will spin my body and very purposefully smack them in the face with my bum. If their face is too high, I will hop my tush into the air so that I can hit them across the snout. It's my FAVORITE! I'll spin and smack, snake about and smack, spin and PLAY BOW!!! And continue until we're playing chase. Recently, Big Pupi has been spotted practicing my feisty behavior. Mom's never seen another dog do this ever.

Am I a bizarro pup? (It usually works and I get them other dog all wrastly and fun-like.) Folks at the park call it my Signature Move.

Later dude and lady-dude!

Portuguese Water Dogs are notorious counter surfers. Fudge used to be really bad till he broke some of Mom's pottery and got scared. Bailey is super bad and really fast. She can grab something and run out the door before you even see what she has. Mom has threatened to glue her feet to the floor if she doesn't stop, but she doesn't listen.

Ahh, naughty Ambrose. I can sympathise with you Niamh. My Sophie Sis is very desructive, even at 2 years old she still be very naughty. Now mummy and daddy can never leave anything lying around. She even chews stuffs that they cannot hide, like the dining room table, or the sofa. Mummy only needs to take her eyes off Sophie for 5 minutes then *bamm* we have a hole in our rug, or she destroyed a sofa arm!!
He has grown a lot too, and he does look very cute. I can see why Barbara loves him a lot. We would love to see photos of his wonky growth spurts! BOL :) XXX

Hello everyone!
I would like to burn a theme at here. There is such a thing, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For quite a long time, I make money with the help of these programs.
I'm with no money problems now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and I started with funny 500 bucks.
Right now, I'm very close at catching at last a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.
