My Ears and My Tail

I have been a bit under the weather lately and not my usual happy self.

I had to go to see my veterinarian at Colony Park Animal Hospital. Now I like to go to the vet's office because they always treat me nicely and give me treats but sometimes they have to do things to me that are not fun. Barbara had been treating my ears because they were yucky (which sometimes happens to us long eared dogs) but they weren't getting much better. They had to power wash my ears and give me new medicine to get at the disgusting yeast and bacteria.

But the worst was my poor tail. I have some sebaceous cysts on my tail that never seem to bother me but lately they got bigger and got all infected.

Close your eyes and don't look at the next photo if you get grossed out easily.

My tail fur had to be shaved, I am on antibiotics for a month and Barbara has to exfoliate my tail every day with special soap!!! Ugh!

Because of all of this I had to miss a fun event. Barbara was invited again to the Duke Canine Cognition Center to give the students some tips on dog body language and safe handling. Ambrose and I went last year and had a great time. I couldn't go and I am sick with jealousy that annoying Ambrose got to be the demo dog and I had to stay home. All the nice Duke students petted him and gave him treats.

They made a big fuss over him and now he thinks he is cool.

I actually have the same problem with my ears, and I usually use baby lotion to clean the yeast, it's actually easier to clean it off.
Get better soon, I know how irritating the infected ears can get!

Oh, and congrats on getting 2nd place for Bad Sports in MM!

So sorry about your ailments. But don't you think poor Ambrose deserved some attention at Duke for a change? You don't agree? Well, then just get well and feel sorry for Barbara having to take care of you! Then Ambrose will be jealous!

Oh, Niamh, we are so sorry for your indisposition. Jed used to chew sores on his tail, sides, back, where ever he could reach; it was inhalant allergies. He's been on allergy shots for almost a year and hasn't had a problem since. He's a X-Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Retriever types are apparently highly susceptible to allergies.

We just wanted to congratulate Ambrose on his first runner up award in the Bad Sports category at Mango Minster. Consider the field trip his reward for his win.

Well done, Ambrose! Get well, Niamh!

Poor you Niamh. Feel better soon :( Aunty Penny gets those cyst things, although we just call them 'age warts' as that's how our vet described them. She had a couple that got cut at the groomers so had an op to remove them, but some more grew back. One has come open again, so we trying to keep it clean, like you is, cos she too old and not have a healthy heart to have the anesthetic now.

We're so sorry your ears and tail are giving you fits and keeping you from fun events! Feel better soon.
Now, with all this going on with you, would it just be too rude of us to ask you pass along our congrats to Ambrose on his Bad Sports 2nd place over at MangoMinster?
