My Operation

I had an operation yesterday. We got up early, Barbara didn't give me any breakfast (cruelty to animals) and off we went to the vet. They were very nice there, but then I went to sleep and when I woke up I felt very groggy and my tummy hurt. I was spayed. It is an operation so I won't have puppies.

I wasn't spayed when I was younger because Barbara thought that I might do well in dog shows like my mom and dad and some of my littermates. But I really don't like posing at dog shows. It is more fun to do tracking and rally. Performance dogs can be spayed. My mom Misty had 9 of us pups and it was a lot of work for her to feed us, clean us and teach us to be good pups. I think having puppies would cut into my busy social life.

So I'm pretty tired today and I have to wear a T-shirt so I don't chew my incision. It is that or wear a satellite dish on my head. I'm going to rest today and catch up on all my friends' blogs. I'm not looking my best so there are no pictures today.

Aww Niamh Holly knows just how you feel, she too wore a t-shirt for a few days. Hopefully you will heal quickly and soon be back to your normal activities.

We're SO GLAD you're okay! I can't tell you how much anesthesia scares my mom so she always gets nervous when she hears about surgeries.

Those other activities sound WAY MORE fun than standing pretty at dog shows! And you get to be all muddy and stinky too! It really doesn't get better than an afternoon out sniffing around and running with friends. I hope you're up for some games again soon.

Happy healing!

Better to sniff & track than stand pretty!

I heard you had The Operation. I'm so glad you are okay. I know you would have made beautiful puppies, as you are so stunning, but you really have a healthy attitude about it.

It's better to play than to raise a litter!

Your head satellite reference made me howl with laughter! I had to wear one when I was really young and it is NOT fun.

We are so glad that you are doing fine. Mom keeps saying she is going to ask the vet when Callie can have that done.. We can only hope that it will slow her down just a bit..

Hope you are feeling better. I bet you look cute in your t-shirt. Did they shave your tummy? That might not be a good look for you.

Hi, Niamh!
Glad to hear you surgery went well. You are right. Wearing a t-shirt sounds much better than the headcone!
Take it easy and you will be like new in no time!

Niamh,
I've been through it and know how you feel. You are probably already feeling much better and ready to play.

See you soon. Your friend, Ayla

Thank you so much for all the suggestions...Mum will do that. She will stop on her way home each night. She emailed the flyer to the Humane Society and they replied back that they received it. She also notified the Sheriff in both counties and some farmers around the area that are cutting hay right now. It is good to know that their are animals that have been missing along time and still are found.....gives us hope!!!!
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and caring. Paw hugs

Poor Niamh, it's no fun being operated on. Remember no matter how itchy your stitches are, don't lick or nibble on them. Soon, you will be back to normal! I hope you feel better soon!!!

Kirby

Stick with the tshirt and don't let them put the dreaded cone on you. We hope you recover quickly and feel much better. We're both "fixed" too, even though we didn't know we were ever broken!

Niahm,
Thanks for nothin. Momma read your comment and remembered that she DOES have that dopey clicker book and now she has me walking with the clicker like some baby.

Plus, instead of one normal walkie, now we go on several short walkies where I can't even sniff or do anything.

Thank you Niamh for all your help and suggestions for finding Charlotte, it really helps to have so many people to give us ideas on finding her. Thank you for being so caring and such a great friend.

You'd be very proud of Puppy Fenway! I got a special prize for doing my agility homework and it took me under 10 minutes to rip off all the nubby parts that stuck out!

That's two toys destroyed in 2 days!

Well, I do get lots of totally yummers hot dogs when I do the clicker training, so I guess it isn't all bad.
