Farmers' Market

I've been pretty busy lately. On Sunday I practiced Freestyle and last night was Drill Team practice. Today when Barbara came home from lessons, we went to a little Farmers' Market. It was fun to go there. Lot's of people admired and petted me. Most of them didn't know that I am a Gordon Setter so she had to explain what I am.

There are lots of tents with all kinds of food inside. Most of the tents have vegetables and Barbara bought boring stuff like lettuce and peppers.

One tent had all sorts of jams and jellys in jars and baked goods! I am very interested in baked goods and my nose was in overdrive with the delicious smells. It was late so most of the baskets were empty but we still found a nice apple spice loaf.

It was hard to control myself around all those delicious treats but I was polite. It was most disappointing that I did not get to go to the tent with the cheesecakes. I think that she was afraid that the smell of cheesecake would be so overwhelming that I would jump up on the table and start feasting.

There is a bigger Farmers' Market in town but I can't go there because they ban dogs! This is blatant discrimination and Barbara refuses to buy so much as a string bean there.

Mmmmm, baked goods, oh so yummy! I don't know how you controlled yourself Niamh. I would have been all over the baked goods table, then the cheesecake table! I say phooey to the other farmers market that has the nerve to ban dogs! Don't they know we can convince our owners to buy ANYTHING?

Kirby

You would love it here in France, Niamh. Dogs can go almost everywhere, including most restaurants!

CHEESECAKE?! I've never even SEEN a cheesecake before! It sounds incredibly marvelous and like a dream come true. Those humans can invent the most wonderful of feasts!

Big Pupi has a question for your human about therapy dog work: Are there any groups in particular that she would recommend? In Chicago we have Canine Therapy Corps, Therapy Dogs International, Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy, the Delta Society and PAWS. PAWS accepts certicication from any of the groups, but no one else takes anything but their own. We want a group that's really proactive and has a good suppport network. It's tough to figure this stuff out!

Any advice would be super duper appreciated! I know you said your human taught classes for the Therapy test. In my book your people are training masters.

Now onto important matters... did you get to taste that cheesecake?...!

Oh Niahm, take me along next time you go to a Farmer's Market. Maybe you can sit politely and wait while I quietly steal us some cake. I'm real good at that. Call me!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I now have the cheesecake on my birthday food table.

It's been a great year and I tried hard to grow up nicely. Come by my super huge birthday event. I'll put you on the VIP guest list.

Ben the Rotti is my bouncer, and I'll make sure he whisks you into the VIP Playroom. Deetzy Boy is in charge of Fun, so check with him about games. I've got Chaney & Skye the border collies keeping all the dogs in line and away from any mischief. Of course, my friends Stanislaw and Big Pupi are in charge of the tasties...LOTS of meaty bones will be on hand. And you, Niamh, are bringing the birthday cheesecake!

See you soon!
