We went to check out a brand new dog park this morning. With all the problems that can happen in them, if done well they can be a lot of fun. The best park in the area is a half hour drive away at APS (and I love going there) but this new one is just 5 miles from my house.
It is really big and I had to check out every part of it. There is plenty of space to run and seats for the humans and trash cans for the poop. They left lots of trees so it will be shady in the summertime. The surface seems to be mulch so I guess we won't be going there when it is wet.
They even have a special water fountain for dogs.
After a great run, the morning was completely ruined by a trip to Max's Dog Wash. This is a place full of dog torture implements such as grooming tables, tubs and blow dryers. Barbara wants me to look nice in my parade debut but taking a bath is my idea of cruelty to animals.
She washed and conditioned me, blew me dry and brushed me out. It was horrible. I got treats before, during and after and it was still horrible.
And thanks to Archie and Agatha she had the bright idea that it has been too long since my stuffies have had a bath. So now she is going to drown them in the washing machine tonight. Cruelty to dogs and cruelty to stuffies. It is so disturbing I am not sure how I will perform in the parade tomorrow.

Now just take a deep breath, Niamh! Water isn't that bad! REALLY! And you will look so BEAUTIFUL tomorrow!
I'm glad the new dog park is really nice.
#1 says she wishes there was a doggie wash around here somewhere!
Your Pal,
Tom
Your new dog park looks great! We have found that the key to dog park success is all in the timing - certain times are off limits and others have wonderful dogs AND people.
Aw - Niamh! I share your pain! I always just get myself smelling nice, having just covered myself in "Eau de Duck Poo" or something similar - when my humans decide that I need a bath and douse me in some revolting stink called Lavendar or Rose or something!
And my stuffies - don't even talk about them! They get drowned EVERY WEEK!!! My humans say it's because of my drool on them - hey, what's a little drool between friends??

Aw Niamh, I bet now the torture is over you look so lovely ready for your parade! Your stuffies will get over it too! That dog park looks nice, we need somewhere secure like that to run, are there any squirrels in your dog parks? They're fun to chase!
Good luck tomorrow, can't wait to see pictures!

Hi Niamh
I hate baths and all the smelly stuff they use. But I do get more rubs when I'm perfumey. That doggie park looks really nice. Washing stuffies is crazy! I hope my mom doesn't read that. Soon she'll be washing bones.

Nice dog park! I can't believe you actually had to bathe after all that fun. But I guess it wasn't really ruined coz you did get to have fun before the torture.
Butt wiggles,
Solid Gold Dancer
That looks a nice dog park.
Hopefully you will have so much fun at the parade you will forget about that awful bath you had to have.
Hope your stuffies dry off soon!
We hope you have a great day! and..
We have given you two awards. :-)
Your pals,
Holly & Zac
