Dog Grooming Torture

Both Ambrose and I got the promised session of dog grooming torture this weekend. Since Barbara cannot groom and take pictures at the same time, there are no graphic photos of the actual torture. These are just some of the evil implements that were used on us.

Even though I get lots of cheese while I am on the torture table, I am not thrilled about the whole thing.

The miracle is that I am not bald! Barbara was very careful and only used the new clipper blade a little bit. This is a good thing because she is a trainer, not a groomer and I think that she should stick to training!

She says that as my special person it is her responsibility to keep me healthy and part of that involves bathing and grooming. She checks my skin, ears, toes and all over to look for lumps and bumps, ticks and other ickies. I know that she is just trying to take good care of me but I wish it did not involve dog grooming torture.

Ambrose had his turn on the table which he doesn't seem to mind. He hasn't had the clippers used on him yet but Barbara turns them on so he will get used to the sound.

He has a lot more hair than I did at that age. He had to get the hair on his feet trimmed as well as his little feathers on his legs brushed! I bet he is going to have a lot more coat than I do which will mean lots of dog grooming torture in his future.

But don't worry, it wasn't all torture this weekend. We had several good walks and I got to practice freestyle with my friends. Ambrose went to the park for socialization and had a playdate with Scout.

They love to chase and play bitey face.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

I hate being groomed too so I fully empathise with you!

At least you're done now for another while!

Hi Niamh! I'm glad you survived being groomed. I don't really mind getting groomed, though I don't really love getting my ears cleaned. Wow, Ambrose's legs are getting longer - he's growing fast!

See ya!

Hmmmm... those implements do look rather ... surgical. And that grooming table does have a rather medieval feel t it. It would probably look good in the dungeon of our castle!

But you survived! Well done!

I feels your pain!
You think that torture you should have all my handsome furs. I has to have it all turned upside down and brushed in layers and sprayed with water!! At least I does not have to have the clippers done and I not attached to my torture table, I gets to lie down and rest.

Ambrose looks absolutely nekked. He doesn't have all the nice feathering that you have.

I am so sorry you had to get on the torture table. That first picture! Yikes! Like a horror movie.

P.S. Next week I have to go to the V-E-T to get my nails clipped because it takes three people; one to grind, one to hold, and one to provide a steady stream of foodables.

cheese? yummy We have to go to the Vet for our nails. Bummer! We're not offered cheese. Glad you made it through the torture to tell about it.

How terrible! I know our hoomans think they're doing us a favor, but honestly I have yet to figure out what's so wonderful about getting groomed. Personally I love bringing back a bit of nature into the home whenever I have leaves and burrs stuck in my feathers. Hopefully it will be a while before you have to endure such torture again.

Dughallmor Beagles said... glad there are no torture pics....was it like a scene from Braveheart....or Saw? Eww, gives us the shivers, hehe :D
But you do look so pretty and your coat is gleaming...did you have your nails clipped too? No no....don't tell, we can't bear it!
Have a lovely day :D

What? I never got to get used to the noise of the clippers! Mom just turned them on and went to town! Of course I'm an old pro at it now! You will be too, Ambrose!

AW man! Your tools look scarier than mine! I need to be groomed today as well.. I have a big show tomorrow! I think I'm getting my leg furs trimmed and I seriously HATE that.

We like Ambrose's goofiness! Stan says he feels like a kindred spirit. Stan is one serious goof-bomb boy.
