Puppy Training

The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) thinks it is vital that all puppies get trained. I do too. Ambrose is bad enough as he is. If Barbara wasn't training him I don't want to even imagine how bad he would be. Barbara started teaching a new Junior Puppy class the other night. Of course I went to demonstrate and Ambrose came too. The puppies are pretty cute but they are all very silly

Ambrose made friends with a Lewellyn Setter named Chief.

They practiced doing their sits.

My boyfriend Trotter's special person Chris came with their new Golden Retriever puppy named Scout. Poor Trotter. Now he will be neglected the way I am while Chris spends all her time with this new puppy. I have a great idea. Trotter can come to live with me and I will send Ambrose over to Chris to live with Scout. Then neither Trotter or I will have to deal with icky puppies.

Ambrose gets lots of training at home. Barbara takes him out into the woods to climb over logs and to practice his obedience. She says it will make him confident and strong. I think that he is too confident and strong already. He has tried to put his paws on my shoulders, the little brat!

He climbs over logs.

He crawls under branches.

When he isn't looking at her, Barbara will hide behind a tree and call him.

Ambrose races to her and gets bits of hot dogs. This is a great game to help with the recall. I love to play hide 'n seek.

Here is a photo of the two of us. You can see how big he is getting.

Now we are off to play bitey face. I've been tagged for a game and received an award. We'll get them up in the next day or so.

Well, having a little brother sounds like a bit of a mixed blessing, Niamh! But it sounds like between you and Barbara, Ambrose is in the very best of hands and paws!

Hi Niamh!!

I can't believe how big Ambrose is getting!! OMG! It be good that he be training so young, he will be a model pup when he be big!! None of us lived with mummy as puppies, and as a result of no trainings we alls knowed nothings when we came! We learned a lot since then but our recall is still rubbish. Me and Hazel Sis aren't too bad, but Sophie Sis be deaf off the lead, cos she be so into chasing the birds. Us gundogs eh!! ;)
Looks like a fantabulous time at your freestyle seminar! That looks like such a cool thing to do with Barbara!

Maybe you are right send that little thing home with Chris and Trotter and you can have a great time.
Tell mom that mom looks like an idiot when she calls Louie and Callie. Waving her arm in the air. Silly mom..

Niamh,

I am the "puppy" in my dawg house, even though I'm now 2. I will tell you that I adore my big brother Ziggy. I want to be wherever his is. He is my best friend. Even though I got more attention than him for awhile he still loves me. I'm sure Ambrose feels the same way about you. Even though we can be a pain in the butt, we look up to our bigs! It'll all even out. I've noticed Ziggy is getting as much attention as me these days. My sister Jessie even started a blog for him. Wait a minute! I'm not feeling so special any more. I've got to go now cause I need to DEMAND more attention! Have a great weekend!

The puppies are pretty darn cute, come on, admit it. Ambrose is lucky to go on off leash adventures. My momma is too paranoid to ever let me off leash anywhere.

Kisses,
Dexter.
